This month, I will discuss the increasing reliance on data produced by recorders during wedge welding of geomembranes within the industry. Here is an overview:
- Industry Trends: There has been a significant push towards using data recorders for wedge welding, leading to the development of guidance documents and articles suggesting that this data could potentially replace traditional third-party quality oversight.
- Critical Analysis: Despite the hype, I think we should proceed deliberately and not make hasty decisions based on this data. First, we need to better understand:
- Setup: How the data recorders are configured.
- Limitations: The inherent limitations of the technology itself.
- Data Concerns: Relying on faulty data leads to faulty conclusions.
